Caring Matters…

  • Rach was my midwife when I was pregnant with my eldest daughter almost 3 years ago. We were planning a homebirth and although this is what we both wanted, my fiance in particular did have some niggles in the back of his mind. Rach was so patient, calm and understanding. She listened to all of his worries and she talked through in detail, what she would do in each scenario putting any worries either of us had at ease. When I was 27 weeks I was diagnosed with a DVT in my groin. The consultants at the hospital advised my pregnancy was now classed as high risk and I wouldn’t be eligible for a homebirth. This felt gutting as we were both mentally prepared for a homebirth and we couldn’t understand why we were high risk. We were just told ‘it’s because you have a DVT’. Rach took full control of this and spent hours researching why having a DVT during pregnancy which has been treated, would mean that the pregnancy is any higher risk. Ultimately she found that there hadn’t been enough research done to determine this. My DVT was treated and my blood levels resumed to normal so I was no higher risk than anyone else and I could have my homebirth if I still wanted. Without Rach being my advocate, I could have had a very different outcome. I will always be grateful for Rach fighting my corner with this. Rach is just everything you would wish for in a midwife. She’s kind, caring, compassionate and a true advocate for women’s rights. I felt safe having Rach as my midwife and you can’t ask for anything more. If you could clone a midwife, you would want to clone Rach 🩷

  • Rachel was an incredible midwife throughout my third pregnancy. With a 10-year gap since my last baby and some additional health concerns, I was naturally a bit more apprehensive. She supported me through every stage, providing unbiased, evidence-based information that allowed me to make the best decisions for myself and my baby. Even after a Gestational Diabetes diagnosis, I felt in control with Rachel’s guidance, ultimately managing it through diet and going on to have a beautiful home birth. Postnatally, she was just as amazing, offering invaluable support when I struggled with breastfeeding due to a tongue tie. Rachel’s appointments were never rushed, and she always made sure I had access to reliable resources for further reading. I would absolutely choose her again if I were to have more children. If you’re looking for a dedicated, compassionate midwife, look no further, Rachel is truly one of the best!

  • Honestly the care I received from Rachel is out of this world phenomenal. I can honestly say having her involved was one of the best decisions for my pregnancy, birth and fourth trimester. Having a consistent, knowledge and empowering person on your side makes the world of difference- being able to meet with Rachel to discuss all my thoughts/concerns/worries/niggles was so helpful, and then to have her on hand via messages too for any and all follow up discussions just made everything so much better. Rach got to know and understand me so well so she knew exactly what was important for me to know, she was able to give me different viewpoints on things I hadn’t considered when I felt like things were “going wrong” which helped me see negatives in a new and positive light, and she always knew her stuff and brought up to date evidence to the table- something that I really value considering how out of date, dismissive and non woman-centred the mainstream maternity system often is. I can honestly say that I’m not sure I’ve met anyone in my life who empowered me as much as Rachel did. Her focus was always on ensuring I was informed and educated on every aspect enough to make my own decisions, and she advocated and respected every decision I made in a way that no other health care professional ever has. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been supported by Rachel with my first pregnancy and knew I needed her for my second too. I recommend her to everyone I know. You won’t regret having Rachel support you ❤️
